Being Volunteers on Collecting Coins of Donation

From November 16 to December 8, 2012, some members of Ruang Podjok volunteered at Karitas Indonesia Keuskupan Agung Semarang (KARINA KAS). As volunteers, they collected coins of donation from many families in the region of Saint Peter Purwosari Parish and other parishioners. On August 2012, Father Banu Kurnianto promoted coin donation program to the parishioners of Saint Peter Purwosari Solo. At that moment, KARINA KAS offered small red yellow saving boxes to the parishioners who were willing to donate their money for KARINA KAS activities. After three months, KARINA KAS would collect those saving boxes.

In mid of November 2012, Mr Albertus Deby offered Ruang Podjok members to join KARINA KAS as volunteers who would collect those saving boxes. It’s a great chance and opportunity to train Ruang Podjok members in serving the Church. Serving the Church is not only at the altar, but also in the street among the people. At November 16, 2012, Mr Albert Deby came to Ruang Podjok and explained about KARINA KAS and Coin Donation Programs. He gave several tools to help the volunteers doing this service. Several members of Ruang Podjok were very enthusiatic to help collecting the donation.

At Monday, November 19, 2012, Ruang Podjok makes some groups of volunteers. Each group was responsible for 8 to 9 destination address in collecting donation. Each group also received some bundels of receipt and plastics to keep the donation. Their services were began. For some three weeks, they are trying to find the destination adrresses they have. They began to knock and ask local people to find the persons who hold KARINA KAS saving box. They were working hard to find those people. Many volunteers shared that they were feeling glad after they found an address or two. Then, they were encouraged to find more. They also did this service in total dedication. Many told that they have to go to some regions they didn't know before. They also told that they had to endure many small and bad roads. During the collecting of donation, they gathered every two or three days to recount their achievement. They recount the donation they got two or three days before. They did those activities happily. Their activities continued until December 9, 2012.
